Pine Creek - Pussy Cat Flats

Monday 29th August 2011 - Day 38 (Pussy Cat Flats)

• Early morning, interesting after having a few to drink last night.
• Ranger fella rocked up early and kicked a few people out who tried to camp in the car park for free. Early rude awakening with a horn for them. "oi! get up! you've got 2 minutes to pack up your tent and leave before I give you a fine". haha.
• Ate way too much for bfast and washed up in the camp kitchen.
• Sounded like someone got a fine for lighting a fire as well. Crazy peeps.
• Slow pack up and trying to ring people in Katherine to find a place that does air con. Got one guy who could "possibly" look at it around 2:30pm.
• Infornation centre gave us a card of a mobile air con guy - got his address and he could see us first thing in the morning - so we drove on down to his house - a bit scary in that part of the neighbourhood but he was nice. 
• He was about the 12th person who thought we were Brittish. gotta work on my aussie accent.
• Got our gas refilled on the spot, so quick, so awesome. Air con worked amazingly straight away again. He found a fixed the leak as well. Cheap! Highly recommend him. Did it all in his driveway saved him coming out to the van in his mobile workshop.
• Stopped at maccas and ate way too much for lunch - ouch! - those $1 cheeseburgers are a killer 
• Drove north, same road again we've been on a few times now. 
• Didn't take long to get to Pine Creek, drove straight to Pussy Cat flats without even checking out the main town. 
• It was a somewhat grassy race course, looked good, ok for the $10 unpowered.
• Rather hot - got the pools out and sat in them - too fun
• My new fav office - in the pool with the laptop. 
• Some fellow travels changed our mind rather quickly about staying there any longer. Yuk yuk yuk yuk yuk. oh well - lock the doors - cheap camp ground 

Tuesday 30th August - Day 39 

• Woke up at sunrise - we survived the night! woo! 
• Check that we still have wheels on our car - yes!
• Took some early morning photos and then packed up the van in silence - DON'T LET THEM KNOW WE'RE AWAKE!
• Pulled the roof down and jumped in the car and left as quickly as possible without making eye contact with anyone haha. 
• Drove up to a local lookout (no caravans allowed - oh well) and made breakfast up there.
• Waiting til 10am then checked into our new place.
